We Launched the Eastport Community Farm May 18th

Fresh veggies for everyone.

Our neighbors desire access to the health benefits of garden fresh vegetables, but face barriers. Our current focus is helping Annapolis’s public housing neighborhoods eliminate barriers by building gardens that are a few steps away. We plan to grow our community farming activities until everyone in Annapolis is participating.

Youth leadership drives Our Community farming

We empower youth to lead projects that directly benefit their community. We provide access to the tools to facilitate wide-spread food access. The dedication of our neighborhoods’ gifted young leaders make impact possible.

Our goal is to grow 100,000 servings of fresh vegetables in 2026

Through relationship building and collaboration, abundant fruit and veggies will be outside every building, and hand delivered to those with further barriers to access.

Beautiful community greenspaces

Our work is not just about nourishing food production. Creating beautiful, flower filled community spaces is also an awesome part of our work. These colorful sanctuaries give community members space to connect with nature and the beauty builds neighborhood pride.

Garden Sites
Facilitated by Joy Grows

1. The healing garden

The Healing Garden is a beautiful community area, stewarded by Ms Peaches aka Donna Johnson on the corner of Madison and President St. Since their establishment in March, 2025, these three raised beds and assorted container plantings have been wonderfully productive through their first growing season. The courtyard’s pretty flowers are thanks to Ms Peaches.

2. Our garden

Built by the kids at Harbour House, Our Garden is the most epic community garden around. We kicked off this project in July 2025 and since then have had countless sessions of collaborative garden building and cultivating with a large group of youth who have been dedicated since the gardens kickoff.

3. Robinwood's great garden

Kicked off in Fall 2025, this garden is cultivated in partnership with Destiny Dale and Kiwone aka “Mr Fix-a-Flat” along with many other great community members. The Garden currently has 300 square feet of raised bed space with plans for another 500. We also hope to build a greenhouse on the adjacent concrete pad to create a community plant nursery.

4. The burnside sanctuary

The Burnside Sanctuary is Joy Grow’s first community greenspace project. Started in fall 2023, it’s a small park available for community use with many fruit plants, seating, shared vegetable garden space, native pollinator plantings and a beautiful chestnut tree – watch out for the spike balls!
