A huge group of kids dedicated to their own community farm is spectacular.

But let me tell you about something just as cool:

partnering with individuals in our communities in complementary ways.

Meet Nana. She’s the great grandmother of some of the kids who are always engaged with our garden. She’s a pillar of the community – but limited in mobility.

What she is not limited in is her desire to grow plants.

She is constantly studying and growing seedlings for our community gardens. From the first time I stopped by to see her balcony of veggies I have been happily bringing her and setting up for her my unused indoor growing equipment. She has used the supplies to produce plants for our garden, the community garden just outside of her door.

In return often in the same trip to pick up plants, we bring her bundles of greens from the garden for her **delicious** green smoothies.

With the planting season closing, she is using her grow tent to cure the sweet potato crop from Our Garden.

We are now gathering supplies to create a larger “walk-in” grow tent for indoor veggie and micro-green production so she can keep growing plants for herself and her community through the winter.

Thanks for being an awesome teammate Nana!
