Raised in an environment that valued curiosity, hands-on learning, and care for the earth, Matthew grew up seeing how science and community can work together to empower individuals. His family’s passion for ecology and organic farming shaped his belief that food should nourish both people and the planet.

Today, that same conviction fuels his work with Joy Grows. Deeply rooted in Annapolis, he’s known for his willingness to connect with anyone — neighbors, growers, or local leaders — and for his vision of a community where everyone has access to nourishing, nutrient-dense food and the joy of growing it together.
